This one started as a high-end furniture sample from Horween. The kind of leather meant to live its life on a chair that sits in a quiet corner of a room where interesting people drink whiskey and tell better stories.

The color has that deep, burnished tone that looks like it’s already lived a few decades. Think of the kind of leather you might stumble across on a 75-year-old cigar chair hiding in a Paris flea market, the kind of place where everything smells faintly of wood, tobacco, and history.

It’s veg-tanned, beautifully natural, and will only get richer the more it’s carried. Unfortunately the sample was small, which means we could only cut three Mr. Grippers from the entire piece.

We’re hoping to score more someday.
